Consultation
The Firm's lawyers render consultation services on every facet of law of Bahrain. The two major languages of consultation are Arabic and English. There are lawyers who are proficient in French and Hindi also. The official language of Bahrain is Arabic and the presence of bi-lingual Arabic/English lawyers enhances the Firm's values besides specialized English and Arabic lawyers. The Firm has lawyers from countries other than Bahrain such as Egypt and India who bring their rich experience and knowledge they acquired from these countries and integrate them with the Bahraini jurisprudence. Since Egyptian jurisprudence has greatly influenced the Bahraini jurisprudence, the Egyptian lawyers play a vital role in the litigation side. The Indian lawyers, with their exposure to common law play a vital role in the consultation side and in banking transactions where international law firms play a key role.
Representation before Courts
The Firm represents clients before all courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities and Notary Public. There are three levels of litigation—first instance, appeals and Cassation. The Cassation Court's judgment is final and binding, and it renders its decision on questions of law. The questions of fact are restricted to the first instance and appeals court. In addition, the Firm represents clients before the Sharia courts and the Constitution Court.
Representation before Arbitration Panels
The Firm's expertise is regularly sought in arbitration matters. The Firm represents clients before Arbitral Tribunals. The Firm's lawyers are periodically and regularly appointed as arbitrators—domestic as well as interntional. Hassan Ali Radhi is very active in the ICC forum and activities.
Company Formation
The Firm regulary advises clients on company formation and assists the clients in company formation—joint stock company, limited liability company, single person company—and assumes the entire tasks until the commercial registration number is obtained. In addition, the Firm's lawyers act as proxies in general assembly meetings—ordinary and extraordinary—and thus give flexibility to international clients who are relieved of their duties to do mandatory exercise.
Contracts
International Clients would like to see the documents drafted in English. Any document that needs to be notarized in Bahrain must be in Arabic. The Firm excels in preparation of bilingual Arabic/English contracts in order to cater to both needs. The Firm regularly drafts and reviews contracts for clients in English, Arabic and bilingual.
Arbitration
The Firm is extremely strong in arbitration and has rich experience in representing clients before Arbitral Panels and the Firm's lawyers have acted as arbitrators in domestic and international arbitration. The Firm’s two partners, Hassan Ali Radhi and Jalila Sayed Ahmed, are active in international arbitration. Dr. Hassan Ali Radhi is a Member of the LCIA Court in the London Court of Commercial Arbitration. Both Dr. Radhi and Mrs. Sayed Ahmed are on the panel of arbitrators maintained by the Commercial Arbitration Centre for the States of the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The six states are Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman. The GCC Arbitration Centre is situated in Bahrain.
Clients
The Firm renders services to banks, insurance firms, commercial enterprises, Islamic financial institutions, investment institutions, maritime entities, universities, audit firms and international legal firms located in Bahrain as well as outside.
